Children & Youth

Sunday School Our Sunday school program starts from the cradle! We offer Nursery child care services for children from birth through 3 years of age. We have a more formal Sunday school program for children from Pre-K through 6th grade and our lessons follow the lectionary, so that parents and children will share in the same Biblical texts each week and will be able to continue their faith development by discussing their shared experience at home. The children are an integral part of the Sunday services, where they have a special children’s message each week. We also offer and encourage the children to participate in the children’s choir, Christmas Pageant and Children’s Day services. Confirmation Faith formation doesn’t stop at the end of Sunday school. Seventh and Eighth graders participate in our confirmation program, which meets at 9:15 on Sunday mornings for instruction and then continues in the 10:30 worship service, where our young people participate fully in the worshiping life of the congregation.. During the year, our confirmands have a variety of recreational and educational experiences as they learn about their faith, including field trips to a variety of other houses of worship and a weekend trip to Block Island. For information or to sign your child up for the program, please contact Nancy Meany at fcthegreen@snet.net Youth Group Our church’s teenagers enjoy a wide variety of social activities together, ranging from cookouts to miniature golf, movie nights and overnight “lock-ins.” Once a month, they also have the opportunity to join the pastor for a pizza lunch and conversation about things that are happening in the church service and how the issues of faith relate to their own lives.

Our Children’s Choir, conducted by Flora Major, performs at several special times throughout the year. The Children’s Choir rehearses following Sunday service on pre-announced dates.
